My first blog

Today, Jennings and I went down to Atlanta to volunteer our time at 7 Bridges to Recovery. The ministry helps to feed the homeless under the "bridges" or underpasses on the busy interstates of downtown Atlanta. I had participated in the ministry before and had a blast serving others. But, I was a little worried about taking my very sheltered daughter to serve. Not because of any type of danger, but just from the standpoint of her ability to keep up the pace of this ministry. It was a beautiful day and I was excited to her get in there and take part in something that is helpful and requires her to be sympathetic to the needs of others. The ministry asks that you hand out the bagged lunches to the person and then pray with them. My sweet little Jenn-Bug watched me pray a few times and then I asked her if she wanted to pray for some people and she gently replied-"sure, mom!"  And she did. It was such a cool thing to watch her say the sweetest prayer. My hope is that she will continue to want to be a part of something that serves others. We are all so blessed beyond our wildest imaginations. It is so important to let our children know that there is so much more to this life than just the material things that we are so fortunate to be able to offer our children. And that not every child has the same luxuries. I know it's going to take a lot of Saturday's like today, but my hope is that she will grow to want to serve and make a difference in others lives.
